Django Reinhardt Essentials

Jazz guitar giant Django Reinhardt created the ebullient “hot” or “gypsy” style that set the club scene ablaze in the pre-bop era. Despite having the use of only two fingers on his left hand, Reinhardt created dazzling music that served as perfect counterpoint for the nimble violin playing of Stephane Grappelli, his musical cohort in the Quintette du Hot Club de France. In later years, Reinhardt explored a variety of styles, including electric guitar and big bands, but it's his work with the Hot Club that embodies his incredible technique and continues to resonate with modern listeners.
