D'Banj Essentials
Apple Music
D'banj is one of Nigeria's greatest international success stories. After avoiding the military path laid out for him by his father, D'banj—inspired by his brother's death—started to play the harmonica. He met his collaborator, Don Jazzy, in London in 2001, who helped propel him to stardom in his home country. A decade later, Kanye West noticed his unique Afropop and signed him to G.O.O.D. Music, which in turn led to a deal with Sony, and his international breakout with "Oliver Twist".
