Czech Composers

Though the influence of the Habsburg Monarchy and the Austrian Empire initially shaped Bohemian music for more than 300 years, composers such as Smetana and Dvořák helped the Czech Republic develop its own musical voice, absorbing indigenous folk influences. Later, composers like Janáček and Martinů continued to expand the repertoire, putting Czech music on the map.
