With stinging guitar runs, whiplash-inducing time changes and stacked harmonies, these Melbourne prog rock dudes appeal to people who love King Crimson as much as The Mars Volta. They're adept at creating conceptual worlds within their songs, populating them with characters such as the Fool and the Alchemist, but they also bring the funk and plenty of buoyancy to their sound. Frontman Christopher de Cinque is a commanding vocalist, veering from a wail to a roar from a standing start, while the band easily switches between metal, hard rock and even a touch of soul.
