Guitarist Chuck Loeb paid his dues in style, working as a sideman for none other than Stan Getz from 1979 to 1981. Soon afterward, he started his own band, Metro. He also began playing in the fusion supergroup Steps Ahead, and eventually began what would become a highly successful solo career. Noted for his innovative use of R&B and funk influences as a bed for his virtuosic improvisations, Loeb found himself becoming an increasingly in-demand player. In 2010, he joined another supergroup, replacing Larry Carlton in Bob James' band Fourplay.
