Carlos Giffoni Essentials

Originally from Venezuela, electronic artist Carlos Giffoni moved to New York City, where the underground community quickly embraced his clattering, expressive harsh noise and blistering abstract electronic work. At the same time, he helped run the label and festival known as No Fun Productions, providing a spotlight for musical acts as equally zonked as his own. The latter part of Giffoni's career has seen him shift to a mutated, minimalist techno that uses squelching rhythms and his multi-tracked voice to call to mind No Wave disco icons like Arthur Russell and Dinosaur.
