Bowie Before Berlin

Even before the electronics of his Berlin period, David Bowie was an unstoppable shapeshifter. The folk influences and space-age psychedelia of "The Man Who Sold the World" and "Space Oddity" soon gave way to full-blown glam rock with songs like the strutting "Diamond Dogs". Then, with the plastic soul of Young Americans and Station to Station, he switched to slinky, hot-blooded funk.
