Bonnie Raitt's best-known tunes are soul/blues/pop amalgams, but throughout her discography the blues vein is most inescapable. Whether she was crooning ‘20s heroine Sippie Wallace's “Women Be Wise” with a back-porch languor or sizzling on the self-penned Chicago-style shuffle “Finest Lovin' Man”, she proved it was possible to maintain true blues cred and still bring something new to the table.
