LaFace, the Atlanta-based label of producers Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, shaped urban music in the ‘90s. TLC's hip-hop soul ballad “Waterfalls” was a cry from the era's social consciousness, Outkast's “Rosa Parks” defined Southern rap and Usher's “Nice & Slow” built a new template for the contemporary-R&B slow jam.
