At Home With WILLOW: The Playlist

“Because I was doing a lot of emotional work while making the album, it seemed only right that I needed to be as vulnerable as possible,” WILLOW tells Apple Music about making her fourth full-length album, lately I feel EVERYTHING. “That was really tough.” In her interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the singer-songwriter also talks about working on the album with her “spiritual partner” Tyler Cole, coping with anxiety and collaborating with Avril Lavigne on the track “G R O W”. WILLOW also curated an exclusive Apple Music playlist made entirely of rock songs featuring vintage pop-punk (blink-182, My Chemical Romance) and ’70s proto-punk (Suzi Quatro, The Runaways). Some of the tracks featured here were picked by her mom, actor, producer and singer-songwriter Jada Pinkett Smith, who recently reunited her long-inactive hard rock band Wicked Wisdom. “A year before I even started making this album, I was like, ‘Mom, I need you to give playlists of all of the rock music that you love,’” she says. “I studied that for months and months and months. And through studying what she gave me, I made this album.”
