Lil Nas X was ready to get back to work after taking some time to process the massive success of his single “Old Town Road” and the release of his EP 7. Fate, however, had different plans for him. “The very first thing that I did was I went to Hawaii,” Lil Nas X tells Apple Music. “The break continued and I was like, ‘Okay, let's get it back started.’ And then, boom, corona. I was like, ‘Okay. So if you're not going to take a break, the world is going to force you to take one.’” Since then, the genre-agnostic rapper has been using this shelter-in-place period to put more time into his lyrics and the concepts of his upcoming projects. As he returns with his aptly titled track “HOLIDAY”, Lil Nas X curates an eclectic selection of music that is keeping him going this season on this exclusive Apple Music playlist. “Early on, I knew that I liked a lot of different types of music,” he says of the playlist, which includes contemporary R&B (SZA, Frank Ocean), indie pop/folk (Aldous Harding, Phoenix) and timeless rock/alternative (Gorillaz, Nirvana). “I feel like everybody else does, but we're all pressured to listen to a certain music—or you're this or you're that.”
