Despite never crossing into the mainstream and rebuffing major label interest during their seven-year career, Archers of Loaf were unavoidably influential in the ‘90s slacker rock scene. Capable of being earnest and cynical as well as brash and tender, they also experimented and covered far more territory in four albums than their hit singles might suggest.
