Hailing from Říčany, Aneta Langerová used her triumph on the 2004 season of reality competition Česko hledá SuperStar to become one of the Czech Republic’s most versatile artists. Stylistically, she slaloms comfortably between genres, able to turn to reflective, emotionally driven tracks like “Voda Ziva” as well as reveal a fierce swagger on “Hvězda” and “Svatá Kordula”. Holding everything together is a tendency towards dramatic, evocative lyricism that speaks of love and loss—and proves Langerová is one of Czech music’s great storytellers.
