Aminé has plenty of rapper bravado to spare. The Portland-born MC’s infinite swagger oozes off both his breakthrough 2016 sex-first single, “Caroline,” and his Ol’ Dirty Bastard-inspired diss track, “Shimmy.” But the well-defended MC isn’t afraid to let his guard down occasionally to talk himself up from self-doubt on his inspirational anthem “Invincible” or open up about indiscretions in a past relationship on 2020’s Young Thug-featuring “Compensating.” With lyrics like “It’s hard to admit that I’ve made my bed” on the latter track, Aminé intimates that removing his armour to expose his vulnerabilities may be his ultimate act of courage.
