Yevgeny Kutik is a Russian-American violinist. He lived in Minsk, Belarus, until the age of 5, when he and his family moved to the United States. He started violin lessons with his mother, Alla Zernitskaya, and pursued further studies with Shirley Givens, Roman Totenberg, and Donald Weilerstein. He attended Boston University, where he earned his baccalaureate, and the New England Conservatory, where he received his master's degree. As the winner of the Boston Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition, Kutik made his debut in 2003 with the Boston Pops, Keith Lockhart conducting. This award led to many concerto performances and recitals, as well as further competition wins, including the 2006 Salon de Virtuosi Grant and Tanglewood's Jules Reiner Violin Prize. In 2011, Kutik produced his first recording, Sounds of Defiance, which was funded through a Kickstarter drive, and released on Marquis. A second release on Marquis followed in 2014, Music from the Suitcase, a collection of Russian miniatures.
