Was Ist Was (translated in English to "What Is What.") was a long-running -- 50-plus years -- series of books (originally aimed at the childrens' market, but expanded over the years to cover just about every topic and interest) in Germany that were meant to inform and educate on a vast number of topics and events. The series grew over time to include CD-ROMs, DVDs, a television show, and an interactive website.
