Detroit, Michigan’s the Sights combine the energy of late 1960s garage, the tunefulness of ‘70s and ‘80s power pop, and the riffage of Led Zeppelin-era blues-rock. Formed originally as a trio of bass, drums, and guitar/vocals, the band since added a keys player. ARE YOU GREEN?, the band’s debut, appeared in 2000. The addition of mellotron and organ to 2002’s GOT WHAT WE WANT expanded the group’s sound, a progression that continued on the Sights’ self-titled 2005 release. THE SIGHTS showed a heavy gospel and R&B influence, without sacrificing their dedication to pop hooks and muscular rock.
