About The Mean Times

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Reading and memorising all the lyrics to the latest chart topping songs of the 80s and 90s in Smash Hits magazine. Ice Ice Baby and Hangin' Tough are still ingrained in my head. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Faith No More, King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime Weezer, Weezer You Am I, Hi Fi Way Blue Album is power-pop perfection - raw, catchy, and weirdly emotional. Hi Fi Way nails Aussie heart and grit with poetic punch. King for a Day is chaotic genius - genre-smashing, fearless, and totally unforgettable. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Hell” Written in lockdown, this track began as an electronic idea from our drummer Rhino and morphed into a pounding post-punk explosion - a genderless, sex-positive, shame-smashing romp and true band collab. It’s a rollicking, unapologetic free-for-all. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The most memorable moment in our career has been getting the chance to make an album with producer Anna Laverty at Head Gap Studios in Melbourne. We were able to really focus on our sound and songwriting and churn out something we're reall proud of. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We want more and mroe people to hear our music and love it as much as we do. We want to tour the world and open for bands like Queens of the Stone Age.
