About Tash Sultana
Viral fame shot singer-songwriter Tash Sultana into the spotlight, but their unique voice and virtuosic musicianship has made them one of Australia’s brightest pop talents.
∙ Up until 2016, Sultana—who started playing at open-mic nights at age 13—was busking on the streets of Melbourne and uploading performance videos to the internet.
∙ Sultana’s big break came when a video of them playing “Jungle” in their bedroom went viral, accumulating a million views in the first week.
∙ “Jungle” went double Platinum and appeared on 2016’s EP Notion, which reached No. 8 on the Australian charts.
∙ Flow State, their 2018 LP, hit No. 2 in Australia and charted all around the world, including in the US, where it reached No. 3 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart.
∙ Sultana has been nominated for 12 ARIA Awards, winning once when Flow State was named 2018’s Best Blues and Roots Album.
∙ They collaborated with chart-topping singer-songwriter (and fellow Australian) Matt Corby on the 2019 single “Talk It Out,” and he also cowrote 2020’s “Pretty Lady.”
∙ In 2020, Sultana collaborated with a legendary music instrument manufacturer to create a custom guitar available for fans to purchase.
