About Sound of The Sirens

Exeter, U.K.-born folk duo Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood (aka Sound of the Sirens) use vocal harmonies to weave tales of sadness, albeit with a positive spin. Martin and Wood met in 2012 while they were both working at the Timepiece venue in Exeter, where, after writing a few songs together, they would play their debut live show. Over the next few years, the duo continued to play live shows, all the while releasing a string of EPs, including 2015's All We Have Is Time. The following year they performed at Glastonbury, where Radio DJ and TV presenter Chris Evans was in the crowd; Evans was impressed by the performance, leading to an invite for them to perform on his show, TFI Friday, alongside U2 and Take That. Their debut album, 2017's For All Our Sins, was a culmination of their work up to that point, tackling some hefty subjects (such as mental health on "The Voices") with upbeat vocal harmonies and folksy melodies. ~ Liam Martin
