Shambolics

Following a brief, early career dabble with hazy, jangly dream pop, the album-charting iteration of Scottish indie rockers Shambolics are a more muscular and polished -- but no less quirky -- outfit. Led by two singer/songwriters with their roots in Kirkaldy, Fife, they self-released a pair of Arctic Monkeys-flavored demo recordings in 2016. In an eventual detour, a run of fuzzy, sun-dappled singles on Alan McGee's short-lived Creation23 imprint followed in 2019 and 2020. By the release of 2023's U SERIOUS BOI?! EP, they'd moved to Glasgow and settled on an equally melodic but crunchier, distortion-filled sound, primed perfectly for mainstream alternative radio. This continued on Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams, which arrived in 2024 and reached number three on the Scottish album chart.
