About Paul D McDowell

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Playing music to a crowd of special educational needs (SEN) children at the SEN school where my Mum used to work when I was about twelve or thirteen years old. My first ever live solo gig! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Nirvana, Nevermind The Doors, The Doors Weezer, Weezer Being from Liverpool, and loving them so, I really wanted to choose the Beatles; but these three were amongst my favourite albums when I was a kid and they inspired me to write my own songs. Honourable mention: The Lemonheads - It's A Shame About Ray Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Overcome” I played this song live to Paul McCartney in a tiny room in Liverpool & he seemed to like it, encouraging me to keep writing songs. So this song does have a special meaning to me with this memory. It is a song about a heartbreak. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Meeting legendary producer Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor), after a solo gig I played in 2009. He invited me to his music studio, where we recorded six songs, creating my 2024 EP "The Gordon Raphael Analog Pudel Session". Good times.
