About Olivia Foa'i

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At around 2 years old I used to love singing the traditional Tokelau song "Tagi Sina" because I had heard my dad's band, Te Vaka, perform his version of it on tour night after night. I would belt it loudly on a never-ending loop of half a verse. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Camila Cabello, Familia Maroon 5, Songs About Jane Te Vaka, Te Vaka My dad's first album, Te Vaka, because he is my biggest musical inspiration. Songs about Jane because I never get sick of that album and Familia because the integration of Pop with Camila's cuban roots encourages me in my own cultural fusion. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “My Way (feat. Matatia Foa'i)” This song is special to me because, as the title suggests I really was finding "my way" and it was the first time I mixed Tokelau language with English and my brother Matatia nailed the production so beautifully to bring all our influences together. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Walking the "blue carpet" at the World Premiere of Disney's "Moana" alongside my dad. We were dressed in bold Pacific designs and I was so proud of him for all his work on the soundtrack and honoured to have been a small part of it too. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to write more songs entirely in language, whether Tokelauan, Tuvaluan or Samoan. And collaborate with more kindred artists.
