About Maya Ixchell

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest musical memory is singing ABBA Singstar on my Playstation 2. I played it every day and I remember being so dedicated to being in key and correctly. In the process I did learn majority of ABBA's discography so that was a fun bonus. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Gracie Abrams, The Secret of Us (Deluxe) Maisie Peters, The Good Witch (Deluxe) Taylor Swift, folklore (deluxe version) Folklore is a lyrical masterpiece and I love the stories and the instrumentals, it's an album I will never tire of. The Good Witch is another storytelling album which I adore for the lyrics and catchy pop instrumentals. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Hurricane” I wrote this at a crossroad in my life where I wanted to self-destruct and run away. I've healed and grown a lot since but this song is so special in representing that time. I know the version of me who wrote it would be so proud of where I am today. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments in my music career would be performing my original song 'Panic Attack' on Telethon in 2022. I got to perform with two of my best friends Morgan Grieve and Clare Perrott and it was such a rewarding experience. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There is so much on my mind but in terms of the next big thing I'd love to accomplish... I'd love to go on tour with a bigger artist around Australia, that would be insane.
