About Marie Modiano

Marie Modiano is a French singer/songwriter with an English-language folk-jazz-pop style. Born in 1978, she is the daughter of novelist Patrick Modiano. She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and found some work as an actress afterward, appearing in films such as La Vie Privée (2005). Modiano began performing as a singer in 2004 with a folk-jazz-pop group that included pianist Grégoire Hetzel. In collaboration with Hetzel, she made her full-length album debut in 2006 with I'm Not a Rose. Sung in English, I'm Not a Rose spawned the single "C'est dur l'Amour." Her second album, Outland (2008), reached the French albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier
