Mari Fernandez

Brazilian singer and songwriter Mari Fernandez (born Mariana Fernandes de Sousa) is a leading voice in modern forró and piseiro. After singing in school and church choirs and teaching herself guitar, she began writing songs inspired by sertanejo stars such as Marília Mendonça and Maiara & Maraisa. Moving to Fortaleza, she initially found work as a songwriter before manager Wagner Barbosa helped launch her recording career. Her 2021 debut, Piseiro Sofrência, spawned the viral hits "Não, Não Vou" and "Parada Louca," leading to a deal with Sony Music. Collaborations with Gustavo Mioto, Matheus & Kauan, and Israel & Rodolffo further boosted her profile, while her popular Mari No Barzinho live series continued with 2026's Ao Vivo Em Fortaleza.
