Lionel Rogg

About Lionel Rogg

Rogg studied organ and piano at the Geneva Conservatory and won the premier prix on both instruments. He formed a reputation as a specialist of the music of Bach when he performed and then recorded all Bach's organ works during the 1960's. Initially a highly skilled but sterile performer, Rogg went on to develop his artistic skills and is now known for his individuality in interpretation. He expanded his repertoire to include Buxtehude, Couperin, Liszt and Brahms. He has served as professor of counterpoint and organ at the Geneva Conservatory, written the booklet Eléments de contrepoint for the school and composed organ, piano and choral music. ~ Lynn Vought
