About Hoodie Allen
Ivy League–educated rapper Hoodie Allen has built a successful career out of making playful college hip-hop.
• Hoodie Allen was initially a duo featuring rapper Steven Markowitz and producer Obey City. They formed at the University of Pennsylvania and were nominated for MTVU’s Best Music On Campus award in 2009.
• Upon graduating from Penn in 2010 with a degree in marketing, Markowitz accepted a job at Google but quit shortly after to pursue hip-hop full-time.
• As a solo artist, Hoodie released his debut EP, All American, in 2012. The project cracked the Top 10 on the Billboard 200.
• Both of his first two full-length LPs—2014’s People Keep Talking and 2016’s Happy Camper—reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
