South Africa’s Herman Kleinhans is an Afrikaans singer/songwriter with a knack for relatable, heartfelt acoustic folk. Born in Sunland, Eastern Cape, Kleinhans developed a deep passion for music from a young age. During Kleinhans' teenage years, he became the frontman of indie-rock band Slagyster, and in 2015 garnered national attention when his romantic single “Ek Sweer” helped him win the Afri-Visie songwriting contest. After that career-defining moment, Kleinhans went on to release the albums Vir Megan (2015) and Kamer 4 (2017). In his critically acclaimed album Ruite Oop (2020), the musician showcases his versatility and explores themes such as romance and mental health over jangly instrumentals. Apart from his solo offerings, Kleinhans also lends his soothing voice to the duo TWEE alongside singer/pianist Maria Rademan.
