About Girl On Fire

Combining elements of contemporary metalcore and djent with more pop-oriented rock sounds of the past, Girl on Fire were formed in Seattle, Washington in 2007 by vocalist Austin Held, guitarist Nick McMahon, and percussionist Harry MacDonald, who met while they were working at the same clothing store. After a few months of jamming together, the trio became a quartet when they were introduced to bassist Josh Mouser. After months of paying their dues with club dates in the Pacific Northwest, Girl on Fire began making a name for themselves when they won a local competition for unsigned bands sponsored by Ernie Ball, and landed a spot on the Seattle date of the Vans Warped Tour. In 2009, Girl on Fire recorded some material with producer WiL Francis, which brought them to the attention of the record label and promotion outfit Hollywood Waste, and in 2011, the label signed them to a record deal. An EP produced by Francis, Revenge, was released in September 2011, and the band hit the road for the first in a series of nationwide tours. Girl on Fire soon added a second guitarist for their live shows, Nicholas Wiggins, formerly with the band Aiden; in July 2013, Wiggins became a full member of the group, and a few months later, they dropped their first full-length album, Not Broken. The album was produced by Jay Baumgardner, and was released by Century Media, Hollywood Waste's label partner. ~ Mark Deming
