Known publicly as Diesel, singer/songwriter Mark Lizotte is one of Australia’s most highly revered practitioners of American roots rock. He was born in the United States just a few years before his musician father relocated their family to Australia in 1971. Taking up electric guitar while attending school in Perth, Lizotte initially achieved widespread fame with the Southern rock-inspired Johnny Diesel & The Injectors. He then launched a solo career with the 1992 release of Hepfidelity, an album that would go triple platinum in Australia. As the years have passed into his rearview mirror, Lizotte has had no problem maintaining commercial success while also expanding his sound every chance he gets. He is a veteran musician who can follow up the Springsteen-esque songcraft of 2020’s Sunset Suburbia with Alone With Blues, a sublime set of genre standards that finds him peering into bottomless wells of heartache.
