About Beasts of Bourbon
Though they eventually evolved into one of the most creatively and commercially successful acts to emerge from the Australian rock underground of the ‘80s, the Beasts of Bourbon began life as something of a lark. The group’s first album, 1984’s AXEMAN’S JAZZ, was intended as a one off collaboration between members of Sydney pub rock regulars the Johnnys and the Scientists, the product of one boozy day in the studio. When the Johnnys and the Scientists broke up in 1988, the group reconvened to record their most successful record, 1989’s SOUR MASH, and continued to record rugged, beer hall-ready blues rock till their dissolution in 1993.
