About And None of Them Knew They Were Robots

Not to be confused with And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, And None of Them Knew They Were Robots -- who are affectionately referred to as the Robots -- is a quartet that hails from Leeds, England. After extensive touring that included opening slots for like-minded acts such as Dismemberment Plan, Burning Airlines, Owls, and Les Savy Fav, the band released their seven-song debut EP on Pigdog in mid-2002. That same year, they appeared on a compilation of British bands called Amped Up. Blistering guitar work, vocals that are alternately screamed and sung, and an agile rhythm section vaguely describes their sound; their roots are firmly entrenched in the more aggressive end of U.S. indie rock from the '90s. ~ Andy Kellman
