Editors' Notes Atlanta, Georgia’s Black Lips crank up the sing-along potential of their psych-stained garage rock on this gloriously ramshackle 2007 album. Across the hurricane-inspired rave-up “O Katrina!” and ne’er-do-well anthem “Bad Kids”, the band echo the firecracker urgency of frontman Cole Alexander’s ragged croak. They play it just as loose with genres, swerving into grotty blues on “Step Right Up” and junkyard country on the loopy vision quest “Navajo”. Even the album title—swiped from The Shangri-Las—reinforces their gleeful, free-range pillaging of yesteryear’s perennially cool talismans.
