Though “I Got You” and “I Wouldn’t Dream of It” are nerdy and nervous, they exude the rock ‘n’ roll passion that other New Wavers lacked. The naked teenage frustrations of “Nobody Takes Me Seriously” and “What’s the Matter With You” turn into expansive sonic visions. In the frosty keyboards and swirling guitars of “The Choral Sea”, we receive the image of an introvert’s wild imagination.
