Mia Dyson excels at breakup songs, and on Parking Lots, the singer and guitarist has amassed an album’s worth. Her bluesy rock is forged in the flames where backseat make-out sessions disintegrate into wretched breakups, where late-night passion turns into the lonely ashes of the morning after. Dyson sinks luxuriously into longing and loss; her vocals are both smooth and sour. Then there’s the ace fretwork: It’s so lyrical that on “Roll Me Out” and “Choose”, it serves as a second lead voice.
