Editors' Notes On his debut solo album, Australian Erin Helyard plays one of the very few unreconstructed instruments from Handel’s time, a harpsichord made in 1773, and the sound is mightily impressive. As well as Handel’s three keyboard Great Suites (Nos 2, 4, 5, and 6), works full of vivid invention and fantasy, Helyard adds the famous Chaconne. There’s also a fearsomely virtuoso treatment of “Vo far guerra” from Rinaldo among a collection of variations on the master’s opera arias from contemporary William Babell.
