EMBRACE

EMBRACE

Within the Wild West of dubstep, Kill the Noise is one of the genre’s most exciting thrillseekers. Seven years after his dynamic debut, Occult Classic, the New York-bred DJ/producer born Jacob Stanczak reasserts his vitality on the long-awaited follow-up EMBRACE. The album crisscrosses the house and bass-music spectrum with both indestructible force and finesse. Flickering drum ‘n’ bass beats ricochet off brain-rattling dubstep drops on triumphant bangers like “Crank” and “Brain Damage”, but Stanczak—a veteran festival headliner with killer instinct—never lingers too long in the low-end. Melody is just as important and potent: guest vocalists like Mija (“Within The Boundaries”), Julia Ross (“Without You”) and Moelle (“Don’t Look Back”) bring lightness, their voices angelic as they celebrate freedom from others and themselves (“I’m dissociating all the time,” Mija intones). By album’s end, all that fury and fragility subside on the title track, a cinematic, post-apocalyptic reverie that invites listeners into a sublime new world.
