After the political detour of 2020’s Say Nothing—an album heavily influenced by the fear-based American news machine—Canadian alt-rockers Theory of a Deadman are calling their eighth album a return to form. And the proof is in the pudding: The record boasts riff-roaring songs about the end of humanity (“Dinosaur”), rap-rock jams about partying too hard (“Ambulance”) and the piano-driven break-up ballad “Two of Us (Stuck)”, a downbeat reversal of the Grammy-winning Bill Withers/Grover Washington, Jr., hit “Just the Two of Us”.
