Dale: Requiem For My Mother
Clark Rundell, Louise Alder, Trystan Griffiths, Kantos Chamber Choir, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Jeff Atmajian, Nazan Fikret, The Cantus Ensemble, The Studio Orchestra

Rebecca Dale writes music of gorgeous melodiousness held aloft on rich harmonies. If you like the music of Karl Jenkins or John Rutter, you’ll feel at home here. Dale’s Materna Requiem was written in memory of her mother, who died from cancer in 2010. There is a poignancy to the piece which weaves in melodies written when Dale was a teenager and which her mother would have heard. Solo voices soar—soprano Louise Alder is on top form—as the orchestra seethes with life. It’s uplifting music, as is the lovely, multi-coloured choral symphony When Music Sounds.
