15 Inventiones, BWV 772-786
24 Préludes, Op. 28
Editors' Notes In 2019, Dina Ugorskaja, the daughter of cult pianist Anatol Ugorski, died from cancer at age 46. This album serves both as a reminder of her art and a memorial to her life. Here, the pianist juxtaposes the cool logic of Bach’s 15 Inventions—the short keyboard compositions that always fascinated her—with Chopin’s Preludes, Op. 28. A less eccentric player than her father and with wonderfully precise finger work, Ugorskaja is perfectly suited to the two composers. The engaging warmth of her playing is hard to resist.
