Ray Dylan—or Jakes, as he's affectionately called by his friends and fans—burst onto the local music scene in 2002 with his debut album, New Kid in Town. Thanks to a combination of infectious stage personality and thumping beats, he has kept audiences jumping for non-stop joy ever since. And channelling his creativity into a different genre with 2009's Goeie Ou Country, Dylan certainly saw his efforts pay off as he scooped the South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Country Album that year.
