Since 2002, former Wled Bled member Balti has blended a singsong hip-hop style with incisive lyrics on social issues like terrorism and immigration. After releasing a project with DJ Danjer, the Tunisian rapper, singer and producer shot to fame with “Ya Lili”, a single with Hamouda that mixed his emotional pop-rap flows, Hamouda’s sweetly melodic tones and a treatise on domestic issues within a family. Other songs find Balti crafting tracks with a wealth of diverse sounds like Spanish-styled guitar, crashing drums and house beats.
