About Vega Orgel

Gone are the days when singers flocked to Detroit, MI, to get their recording careers on. Vega, four talented singers, moved from the Motor City to Atlanta, GA, for a better opportunity at fame and fortune, like many others before and after them. The quartet of brothers Eugene and Ahsohm Williams, cousin Jason Chenevert, and friend Tennell Williams came from the heart of Detroit. They woodshedded by singing at family gatherings. And they all admired various Motown artists', especially Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and the Jacksons, but also the Artist, New Edition, and Donny Hathaway. The move to Atlanta in 1998 proved fruitful; they went to display their skills at the city's many musical showcases attended by the hot producers. The chance paid more dividends when they signed a deal with noted producer Dallas Austin's Freeworld Entertainment production company. Austin has skillfully shaped their rangy harmonies into a distinct sound. The single "Mommie" was the first of many fruits to drop from Vega's musical tree. ~ Andrew Hamilton
