About Nelson Keene

b. Malcolm Holland, 1942, Farnborough, Hampshire, England. This early 60s photogenic pop rocker was one of 10 children. He formed a quartet called the Raiders and sent a demo to top impresario Larry Parnes. Parnes signed him and put him in Idols On Parade, a summer show at Blackpool in 1960, which starred Joe Brown, Tommy Bruce and Lance Fortune. Keene made the UK Top 40 with his first single ‘Image Of A Girl’, a cover of the US hit by the Safaris (it was another cover by Mark Wynter which won the chart race in Britain). He recorded two other singles for HMV Records which fell by the wayside for this would-be teen idol.
