About John Harle
b. 1958, England. Harle has long been identified more with his instrument, the saxophone, than with a genre of musical expression. Classically trained at the Royal College of Music and the Paris Conservatoire, he has played an important part in the recent expansion of the saxophone’s classical repertoire. In the late 80s he established his improvising group, the John Harle Band, with whom he has since toured, and he has produced some highly respected duo work with John Lenehan. He is currently Professor of Saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.
