In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. On May June 1st, 1969, J. Kimo Williams listened, mesmerized as Jimi Hendrix played Spanish Castle Magic at a Waikiki Shell concert in Hawaii. After that experience, he knew music was to be his life. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Chor und Sinfonie-Orchester des Nordwestdeutschen Rundfunks, Martha Mödl, Wilhelm Schüchter, Modest Mussorgsky: Boris Gudanov (Hamburg 1950) Emory University, A Concert Tribute to Oliver Messiaen Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Inner Mounting Flame I took a pivotal class at Berklee Jazz School, "Styles and Analysis," where I was entranced by the classical compositions of Mussorgsky and Messiaen. Tell us why you chose this song. “Rare 12 Sessions (feat. Vinnie Colaiuta & Michael Brecker)” Working with Vinnie Colaiuta and Michael Brecker was the highlight of my composing career. They took my music seriously and applied themselves personally to my art as opposed to just reading the notes. This track represents their commitment.
