Parov Stelar has with The Demond Diaries released an album that revels in the past while also embracing the future. Jazz and swing are important building blocks here, with countless old samples building the sound. What Stelar does with these however is truly unique, blending them effortlessly with smooth house and playful electro. There are some welcome emotional reprieves from the non-stop boogying through guest vocalists providing some emotional nuance, including a thoughtful cover of the classic "Summertime". Soak it in.
