In another great solo debut on the Wu-Tang family tree, Ghostface Killah takes advantage of RZA’s production. Ghostface’s frantic and layered narratives are thickened by soul samples like the Jackson 5’s “Maybe Tomorrow” and repurposed for “All That I Got Is You”, a poignant rumination on Ghostface’s hardscrabble childhood. But mostly, the album is packed to the brim with hustler’s tales like “260”, a story of a heist that goes horribly wrong. Throughout, Ghostface and fellow Wu member Raekwon are a tag team for the ages.
