Alt-pop singer, guitarist, and bassist Lauren Isenberg, who performs as renforshort, began posting songs online when she was 14.
• She once won a talent show by singing a traditional Chinese folk song, “Mo Li Hua,” in Mandarin.
• After releasing two singles independently as Ren in 2019, Isenberg signed with Geffen Records for her debut EP, Teenage Angst, and adopted the name renforshort.
• She took inspiration as a kid from her parents’ record collection, absorbing music by Billy Joel, the Velvet Underground, and Nirvana, among others.
• Renforshort wrote her song “i drive me mad” about a panic attack, immediately after having a panic attack of her own in the recording studio.
